A student-led weekly
Hüseyin Muşmal’s study dates the paper’s start to 1963 and its run to about a year. It was prepared by university students with the support of teacher Narman Demir Çınar and issued by the Beyşehir Culture and Solidarity Association. Typesetting and printing took place in Konya; surviving issues were four pages and appeared on Mondays.[1]
The research names Mustafa Beştoy as owner for the association, Musa Beştoy as responsible manager and Harun Veli Yıldırım as editor. It describes teachers, professionals and reader-contributors in the writing circle, showing how a small newspaper could connect people working in Beyşehir with those studying elsewhere.[1]
Local public life
The pages carried national news, Beyşehir commentary, stories, criticism and submitted poems. Muşmal attributes the end of publication to financial difficulty. The surviving issues are a source for what contributors wanted to discuss, though they cannot represent every resident’s opinion.[1]
The surviving run
The first issue appeared on 2 September 1963. Surviving copies show a four-page weekly published on Mondays. The corpus is incomplete, so its exact final issue is unknown; oral testimony suggesting about a year of publication is an estimate, not a verified closing date.[2]
Muşmal also notes an earlier paper titled Beyşehir that began on 31 March 1955. Beyşehir’in Sesi was therefore part of a developing local press history, even though its student-led organization and the specific 1963 issues give it a distinct identity.[2]
